The Maze Runner movie is based on James Dashner’s first bestselling fantasy novel of 2009 from Maze Runner series. Like the novel, Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) with erased memory finds himself at an unknown place in a grassy field surrounded by high walls of Maze, where few more boys of his age are already trapped. The story is how Thomas with Alby (Aml Ameen), Teresa (Kaya Scodelario), Gally (Will Poulter), Newt (Thomas Sangster) and with the other boys escape from the deadly maze puzzle, filled with rugged terms, narrow and huge walls and deadly creature. The only way out is recollecting pieces of their past and the clues discovered in the maze.
The actors are convincing and impressive with their brilliant performances, specially Dylan O’Brien and Aml Ameen. The debutant Director, Wes Ball does a fair job, but could have been better. The story is unarguably, very intriguing and can keep the audience on the edge of their seat for about 2 hours.
The climax, unfortunately is a bit disappointing which leaves much to be desired. Nonetheless The Maze runner is loaded with thrill, suspense, fast-paced scenes, startling special effects and brilliant performances from teens.
The Bottom Line: The Maze Runner is entertaining and compelling enough to watch. But, if you are expecting a thrilling movie like Hunger game, this may fall a bit short.
