Gabbar is back is a story of a common man – Aditya Singh (Akshay Kumar) who transforms into “Gabbar” to fight against corruption. In an accident Aditya losses his wife (Kareena Kapoor) and wants the culprits, Digvijay Patil (Suman Talwar) and involved government officials to get punished, but the corrupt system doesn’t hear his plea. Aditya decides to become Gabbar and builds a secret army of honest government officials and goes on the mission to avail justice.
Gabbar’s plot may sound repetitive, but the way it has been filmed is admirable. Akshay Kumar, after his sterling performances in Holiday, Special 26, Baby & Rowdy Rathore gives another thrilling act. Akshay as Gabbar is absolutely brilliant with his acting and action packed stunts. Shruti Hassan’s role has less scope, but she looked good in her minimal appearances. Jaideep Ahlawat as Kuldeep Pahwa, a highly rated cop is fantastic. Suman Talwar, the superstar from Telugu movies, as iniquitous Digvijay Patil was commendable. But the most surprising character is Sunil Grover, having an image of a comedian, comes up with a solid performance as a honest constable, Sadhu.
Director Krish, has used the resources well and maintained the suspense, action and dram till the end. Gabbar is one of the rare movies which can hold you on your seat for 2 hours. Songs are pretty average. except Chitragana Singh’s item number ” Aao Raja” which is sensuous. Background sound and VFX is nicely done.
The Bottom Line: Overall Gabbar is back is a complete Bollywood masala movie and more-so for Aki’s fans. Worth a watch!
