Ferdie’s best friend Angie (Deepika Padukone) stays with her mother-in-law, Madame Rosalina (Dimple Kapadia), both of them are widows. Angie decides to help Ferdie in finding his love, Stefanie Fernandes. They take the rusting Impala Car of painter Don Pedro (Pankaj Kapur) for the journey. Angie’s ex boyfriend Savio Da Gama (Arjun Kapoor), running a garage, joins them on this trip. Finding Fanny is a nicely depicted story of understanding and finding true love.
All five actors – Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur & Dimple Kapadia has put their best foot forward and delivered an outstanding film. A nice amalgamation of versatile top-notch acting. Naseeruddin Shah has added one more feather in his cap with this performance of a fumbling lover. Deepika with her sensuous looks plays her part really well. Dimple Kapadia as an annoying widow is simply brilliant. Pankaj Kapur with his talent makes dirty dialogue sound delicious with ease. Arjun Kapoor as an arrogant mechanic looks the best fit for Savio’s character.
After “Being Cyrus” and “Cocktail”, Finding Fanny is a true master class from Homi Adajania, shows his talent as a filmmaker. A movie which shows how good acting can make an average film, an excellent film.
The Bottom Line: Finding Fanny has simple storyline, but is bold and enjoyable journey. This is not a typical Bollywood masala entertainer, but a movie which is different and will appeal more to niche audience.
