Deliver us from Evil - Movie Review

Movie Review:

“Deliver Us From Evil” is inspired by the book, Beware the Night by Ralph Sarchie. The movie is about a Police officer, Ralph Sarchie (Eric Bana) who investigates about a series of disturbing and terrorizing crimes in the city and in his personal life. To understand and fight against paranormal events and evils, he team-up with priest Mendoza (Edgar Ramirez), who knows exorcism.

The leading star-cast are impressive. Eric Bana as Ralph Sarchie leads the pack with his excellent performance. Olivia Munn as Sarchie’s wife Jen does a fair job. Joel McHale as Butler, Sarchie’s collegue gives the much needed light moments and laughter. But Edgar Ramirez as Priest Mendoza, steals the show with his remarkable acting.

Scott Derrickson, the director of Sinister (2012) and Exorcism of Emily Rose (2006) is predictable and sometimes found frustrating in this flick.  The special effect are done quite well, while the climax is appreciable.

The Bottom Line: “Deliver Us From Evil” has its scary and terrorizing moments, but follows predictable script and screenplay. You might be disappointed, if looking for a refreshing horror flick.
