Dawat-e-ishq is the story is of a Hyderabadi shoe-sales girl, Gulrez Qadir (Parineeti Chopra) and Tariq Haidar (Aditya Roy Kapur) a Lucknawi cook. Gulrez fed-up with the dowry demands for her marriage presented by her uncle (Anupam Kher), finds her way out. Gulrez meets Tariq the “Big Boss Hyderi Kebab” with a plan to con him, but gradually she falls in love with Tariq.
This is the second movie of Habib Faisal with Parineeti after Ishaqzaade released in 2012. The story hovers around Parineeti, who looks charming and does an impressive job. Aditya Roy as Lucknowi cook looks fine with his witty dialogues. Karan Wahi does an excellent job in his minimal appearances. Anupam Kher steals the show with his acting province. Songs of Dawat-e-Ishq are pleasing and foot-tapping.
Daawat-e-Ishq is not a movie to be remembered for long, but has enough to entertain the audience with love, humor, songs and impressive performances from the leading starcasts. Film nicely portrays the social issue of Dowry with a bit of spice to it.
The Bottom Line: Daawat-e-Ishq is an average bollywood masala entertainer with its high and low moments. Worth a Watch!
